ANCA GALLERY
ANCA gallery presents over 20 exhibitions each year of local, interstate artists showing work in a variety of media. It is an ideal space to present group, solo or experimental exhibitions, installation or performance and may also be used to host activities such as seminars and workshops. ANCA Invites applications from artists, curators and community arts organisations.
The ANCA Gallery Courtyard may also be used in summer months to show work appropriate to outdoor situations. Public access is via the gallery and is restricted to Gallery hours. ANCA Gallery Rentals
Gallery facilities: The Gallery has a flexible, simple layout, excellent natural light, easy ground floor access, generous ceiling height, polished concrete flooring, gas heating and overlooks a spacious courtyard garden. The floor space is 92 sq. metres, wall heights range from 4-7metres, with 3 additional moveable walls (h242cm x w160cm). A copy of the floor plan is available by clicking this link. Artificial lighting consists of diachromatic halogen flood, spot and focussed track lighting.
Applications: Exhibition bookings are made by application to the Gallery Committee and are considered on their merit and availability of dates in order to present a diverse gallery program of high standards. Care should be taken in presenting the proposal professionally, clearly and to the best advantage of the applicant. Bookings are made in weekly blocks, and are usually of two weeks duration.
Gallery Applications
Applications for the 2011 program are currently being accepted, for review in Febrauary, June and October 2010. The February round of submissions is now closed. Please forward your proposal to the Gallery Committee, PO Box 1189 Dickson ACT 2602. You must include:
- A covering letter including contact details and your preferred dates
- Current CV (for each artist involved) - limited to 2 pages
- Artist statement - limited to 1/2 page
- Exhibition proposal - limited to 1/2 page. Proposal must include scale of work, medium, number of works to be exhibited and title of exhibition.
- Visual documentation of recent work:
- 6 to 12 images as digital images or high quality prints. - An image list detailing each: artists' name for groups, title, date, medium/materials and dimensions
Images provided should be recent and relate conceptually to the ideas discussed in the proposal, in order to illustrate not only the style and quality of work, but the curatorial premise. If images are provided to illustrate development of your practice they should be clearly labelled as such.
Images which do not relate to the written proposal significantly detract from the submission.
Please note: Care should be take to present your proposal professionally, preferably printed on A4 paper and unbound. Proposals that do not contain each of the above listed items will not be assessed by the Gallery Committee and applicants will be asked to resubmit at a later date.
Hire Conditions
The Gallery has standard opening hours : Wednesday - Sunday 12 midday to 5 pm. All hirers are required to open the gallery during these hours.
Bookings are made in weekly blocks: usually two weeks with a minimum 1 week and maximum 3 weeks.
The Gallery is rented at the fee of $750.00 (including GST) per fortnight. This fee includes lighting installation, local print and online advertising. A non refundable deposit of $250 is paid at the time of confirmation of the booking. ANCA charges a 15% commission (including GST) on sales, which supports ongoing gallery maintenance and refurbishment costs.
The Gallery sitting is the responsibility of the leasee, although some assistance is available from the Gallery Development Officer during the week and weekend sitting may be arranged for a fee of $15.00 per hour.
Arrangements for openings and invitations along with associated costs are the responsibiltiy of the leasee. We also encourage hirers to promote their activities. Mailing labels are available for $25 and a publicity kit, including media contacts, is available on request.
