Flow and Fusion

Woven ikat by Sally Blake and prints on paper by Vedanta Nicholson exploring a shared interest in patterns and processes found in the natural world.

Sally Blake: Woven Ikat
Vedanta Nicholson: Prints on Paper
Blake and Nicholson share an interest in patterns and processes of the natural world and how these manifest internally and externally. Their work explores the dynamic flow of energies and the fusion of colour and vibration where these energies meet. They are fascinated by the inherent order and structure of the natural world.
Blake wishes to depict the essence of what she sees and feels in the landscape rather than describing pictorial elements, and uses an abstract language of colour bands to describe colour and light transitions in the environment.
Nicholson’s prints capture the dance of energies evident throughout the natural environment. They ask us to contemplate the mystery of formation behind a commonality of emergent patterns, the similarities found in phenomena such as atmospheric systems, water flows, flocking birds, shifting sands and the cellular structure within the body.
